What kind of things are people planning to read for the upcoming Christmas break? I have a good few unread books on my bookshelf that really need to be read (they've been there since last January!) I have 3 Stephen Kings so I'll probably start off with one of those!

The plays of Martin McDonagh, I saw Seven Psychopaths last night and I have a craving for his style right now, haha. Also 'Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World' by Haruki Murakami. It's one of his earlier works than 1Q84, which everyone is raving about, so it I'm hoping its good. The title is definitely promising. If I have time I'll read the fourth volume of the Dark Tower or the John Carter of Mars stories. Tell me one of your three Stephen King books is from the Dark Tower. It's such an great series, I wish I had somebody to talk to who has read it, or at least part of it!

No, sorry to disappoint. I really want to read that series though. It's on my list but unfortunately not on my bookshelf. I do want to read It and the Stand before I start the Dark Tower series though. Those are my 1,000 paged goals for the Christmas break.

Oh, I really liked The Stand! I read the unabridged version and found it was really gripping. I have a book called "I'm not Scared," "Animal Dreams" by Barbara Kingsolver and the first Game of Thrones book to get started on and I'm hoping Santa might bring me Ian McEwan's "Sweet Tooth" and Philip Pullman's take on Grimm's Fairytales.
