What book are you reading at the moment? I'm currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

Starting Stephen King's 'The Stand' tonight.
My attempt at reading IT didn't last long, his pace is usually too slow for me. Hopefully I'll be engrossed by this one, I've heard good things...

If you're only starting to read Stephen King, I'd recommend giving his shorter books a read first since IT and The Stand are incredibly long. My favourite by him is Misery but 'Salem's Lot is also a great read.

I first tried "Dreamcatcher" by Stephen King and I didn't even finish it to be honest, but I thought "The Stand" was amazing! I thought he managed to combine a huge plot and ideas with really strong characterisation, so I'd definitely recommend it.

I just finished Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, a quasi science fiction novel. The plot was fine (a bit unsensational maybe) but the real appeal was the visionary setting. New Crobuzon is a city filled with different alien races, architecture all of which is excellently conveyed. I'd recommend it people open to a new reading experience.
BTW I also loved the Stand....in fact I even preferred the unabridged version which I think was over 1400 pages!

I'm three volumes into Stephen King's Dark Tower series. All the bizarre little bits of that world fit together really well, so it's a fantastic story. I'm going to start volume four soon. I've only heard good things about The Strand (on this thread and elsewhere), so I'll likely stick with King when I'm done this series.

I really love Stephen King but I feel like he can be a bit hit and miss with endings a lot of the times. There were some books by him that I adored, but at the same time some that left me feeling extremely unsatisfied.
